A dive into common loyalty schemes.
Why your loyalty scheme sucks
Let's start with the basics: What even is a loyalty scheme?
If the word scheme sounds a bit too malicious for you, try user retention strategy.
The problem with loyalty
We've all been there - trying out a loyalty program in an app, only to find that it's a total letdown. The points systems are like a labyrinth with no exit, and the redemption options are more yawn-worthy than a 3-hour lecture on tax codes. And don't get us started on the lack of personalization - it's like the programs are designed to make us feel like just another number. Plus, earning points is often a snoozefest, like filling out a never-ending survey or playing a game that's as exciting as watching paint dry. It's no wonder that loyalty programs in apps have a higher abandonment rate than a leaky life raft.
How can we design stickier products?
Boundless Health's mission to revolutionise the healthcare industry is big, so we needed to think even bigger. First, as we modelled all of the systems, partnerships, and technologies that needed to be in place we realised there was a lot of huge moving parts to this industry and they all needed to work in harmony. Secondly, we wanted to stay grounded in the idea of centring everything around the patient's experience. After a series of design exercises the team aligned on the cosmic concept of gravity and celestial bodies. This perfectly encapsulated our vision of having a range of services, tools, and care orbiting around the patient.
